Kathryn Poss Harris passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at her residence in Williston. She was 86 years old.

Kathryn was born in Philomath, Georgia in March of 1922 and moved to Williston in 1946. She has been a very prominent and active member of the community for the past 63 years. Kathryn was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Williston and she was very active in the Methodist Youth Foundation. She was the Principal of Williston Elementary School for 24 years and taught for 12 years. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Phi Delta Kappa, and past president of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was past Worthy Matron for the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Friends of the Williston Library, the Levy County Archives Committee, and past chairman of the Regional Planning Council.

She was very active in genealogy and was co-author of the book, "Williston - Cross Roads of Florida". To know Kathryn was to love her. She was definitely one of a kind and she will be greatly missed by all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis Harris Sr. She is survived by her son, Travis Harris Jr., 2 brothers, Allison "Boots" Poss and Hill Poss, 2 sisters, Dorothy Gary and Allene Boyett, and 2 grandchildren, Kathryn and Richard Harris. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Friday, January 23 at Knauff Funeral Home in Williston. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Williston. Burial will follow at Orange Hill Cemetery. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church in Williston (213 West Noble Avenue, Williston, FL 32696). Arrangements are under the care of Knauff Funeral Home.
