Edgar Resendiz Alvarez was born on October 14th, 1973 in Guanajuato, Mexico. The youngest of eight siblings, including two brothers and six sisters, Edgar's parents were Jose and Ofelia Alvarez. During his childhood Edgar attended school while helping his family raise livestock of goats, chickens, and cows. In 1996, wanting a better future, he came to America and received his residency to stay in the United States. A year later he married his wife Maria Jimenez.

Once married, he started his own drywall company, Alvarez Construction, and continued working hard for the American Dream. He immediately took on three children from his wife's previous marriage. Always called "Papi", he raised those three children Marcia, Roxanne, and Billy into the successful adults they are today. In 2001 and 2005, two more children were added to the family with Edgar Jr and Alejandro, making their family complete.

Edgar loved the Lord, his family, and friends. But his two main hobbies were fishing and baseball. In the year of 2001-2003 he joined a local men's baseball team as a shortstop. If you couldn't find him at a lake fishing till sundown, you'd probably see him on the field practicing baseball plays with his three sons. Edgar was even a coach for the Delaney Park Little League for the years of 2008 through 2013. He made a point of attending every game and practice his boys had. Always a hard worker, he not only supported his family of seven, but his family and friends in Guanajuato, Mexico. He helped many family and friends with jobs and becoming citizens of the United States.

He taught his children many life lessons like the importance of hard work and supporting family and friends in everything that they do. But also odd things, like installing tile, the proper way to catch fish, how to throw a curve ball, and even making a fresh homemade tortilla.

He is with the Lord now, and will always be missed and loved. On March 18th a memorial will be held at Delaney Park in his honor.

Papi was like another father to me, a friend and a great soul . I loved him like he was my family . Your forever with us .Rest easy my friend . I'm greatful that I got to know you and your family .

Such beautiful words for a great man with such a lovely soul. Papi is in heaven talking to all the other Angels about how proud he is of all his kids and how deeply he loves you all. Papi adored his kids and his wife, completely and wholeheartedly every day of his life. I will always remember his love for fishing and how he showed me and the boys to fish and all the baseball lessons he gave the boys. We have such a beautiful Angel watching over us!
He'll forever be in our hearts. Until we meet again Edgar. We love you!
