Amanda passed away at Westminster Woods on Julington Creek, St Johns, FL
In addition to being an educator with the Duval County Public Schools for many years, she was a mother, grandmother, aunt and pending great-grandmother.
Survivors include: daughters, Valerie Bennett & Karen Westbrook, Jacksonville, FL; son, Jeff (Debbie Davis) Westbrook, Jasper GA; grandchildren: Cherish Bennett, Charleston SC; Megan (Val) Ayers, Cary NC; Lauren Westbrook & Andrew Westbrook, Jacksonville, FL; great-grandson, Henry James Ayers, due 10-22-2015 and a host of nieces and nephews.
Amanda's desire was for her ashes to be scattered among the fields on the Newberry, FL farm where she was born & raised by parents Mary Jane (McGehee) and James Jackson Clegg, so to "lay among the phlox".
She was predeceased by siblings: Elizabeth Hampton, Willie, Sarah, Alice Philman, Carl, Sam, Nonnie Curry & Jack.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Hardage-Giddens Hendricks Chapel, 4115 Hendricks Ave, Jacksonville, Florida. Amanda's family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Westminster Woods and Community Hospice of NE Florida for their loving care of our Mother.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Amanda's memory to the Employee Christmas Fund, Westminster Woods, 25 State Rd 13, St Johns, FL 32259.
