Elinor Powell Williams was born on December 1, 1944 in Oakland, California to Thomas and Delilar Powell. She attended Chicago Public School, Chicago Teachers College and Atlanta University where she graduated with a Masters Degree in Library Science.

She is survived by her parents Thomas and Delilar Powell, her devoted daughter Audrey June (Dwaun), her son David Williams, grandchildren, twins Alicia and Galen June, siblings Phyllis Pelt (Thomas), Virginia Tate, Corla Wilson-Hawkins, Thomas E. Powell, Jr. (Inez), William Powell, Rosalyn Robinson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers.

Elinor was a communicant of St. John Baptist Church in Chicago, Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Orlando and was a Sunday School teacher at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Institutional Church in Orlando.

Elinor was a beloved librarian at the Orlando Public Library for almost 30 years.

The Celebration for the Life of Elinor Williams took place on Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Institutional Church at 535 W. Washington Street, Orlando, Florida, Rev. Errol G. Thompson, Presiding; Rev. Eddie J. Williamson, Officiating.
