Elise was the daughter of Walter Leoline Wescott and Elise Josephine deFrondat Dallas. She had two sisters, Marie Leoline Wescott Mayer and Caroline Wescott Earls and one brother, Walter Wescott Jr.

Elise married Thomas Frank Buchan I on May 20, 1914 in Orlando FL. She and Thomas had nine children, seven of whom lived to adulthood. Elise devoted herself to raising her children and helping with her grandchildren. At the time of her death, she had 20 grandchildren.

Elise was a strong, sturdy woman, rarely ill in her adult life. Elise died from ischemic heart disease exasperated by diabetes mellitus eight days shy from her 86th birthday.

Elise lived through the recession, World War I and World War II and the Korean conflict and had lost two young children. She had a hard life, but this woman was a survivor. She was kindhearted and I wish I could have known her longer. And isn't being remembered fondly something we would all like?

Elise was laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Orlando Fl next to her husband and young son, Joe.
