Friends and family remember Grace Warlow Barr as a vivacious, fun-loving woman who was a gracious hostess, a good cook and a loving mother and friend. An Orlando native and lifelong resident, Grace was perhaps best known for her cooking. As a Sentinel editor, she wrote columns and shared her recipes with readers during a newspaper career that spanned 27 years. In 1971 Sentinel-Star Publications released a compilation of her recipes in a cookbook, Cooking with Grace. Barr's talent in the kitchen took a practical turn during the Great Depression when she and a friend opened a shop off Park Avenue in Winter Park. The two women sold home backed breads, cakes, candy and fudge. She was an excellent cook, a gracious hostess, a lively guest and a loving mother. Her daughter,
Grace was also a member of the Third Friday Book Club - the longest running book club in the history of Central Florida - from 1955 to 1960. The minutes of the club indicate she last reviewed the book "The Proud Possessors: The Lives, Times and Tastes of Some Adventurous American Art Collectors" by Aline B. Saarinen. Grace is survived by Andersen; a son, L. Graham Jr., New Smyrna Beach; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
