Mohonri Moreancomer Decker, 75, prominent livestock man and church worker of Parowan, died at the Iron County Hospital Monday, December 27th., of a heart ailment from which he had been suffering for the past three weeks. Until stricken by this illness he had been able to get around although he suffered for sometime from high blood pressure.

Mr. Decker, who was born in Parowan on August 7, 1868, a son of Zachariah Bruhn and Nancy Bean Decker, southern Utah Pioneers, had spent his entire life in that city, except for the year 1920, during which time he lived in Delta, and for 2 1/2 years from 1899, when he filled an LDS Mission in the Eastern States. He was one of the most prominent farmers and livestock growers of the community for many years.

Besides filling a mission he served in many capacities in the church. He was a member of the Parowan Choir for a period of 47 years, served for some time as member of the Ward Bishopric, was a member of the HIgh Priest Quorum at the time of his death and served for many years as Sunday School, and Priesthood teacher.

On December 12, 1890 he married Rachel Ann Munford of Parowan, who died in 1903. On May 31, 1905 he married Harriet Norris of Parowan, who preceeded him in death in 1927.

He is survived by five sons, Virgil M. Decker, Manti; Earl M. Decker, Payson; Alvin and Woodrow Decker, Parowan, and Sgt. Alpine Decker of Fort Knox, Kentucky; and four daughters, Mrs. Ancel J. Adams, Parowan; Mrs. D.C. Dix and Mrs. Elwood Corry, Cedar City, and Miss Blanche Decker, Los Angeles. Also surviving are thirty-two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and two brothers, George W. Decker of Cedar City and Oscar M. Decker of Parowan.

All of his children were present at the funeral services held in Parowan Wednesday afternoon. The services were conducted by Bp. Scott Day, and speakers were Hugh L. Adams and Walter C. Mitchell. Interment was made in the Parowan Cemetery.

Note on Obituary : Mohonri M Decker died in Cedar City at 244 SOuth 300 West at the home of his daughter Florence and son-in-law Elwood Jones Corry. His daughter Judy remembers how she and her siblings were sent next door to stay with Grandparents Elias and Abish Corry as he approached the time of his death. He had been living in Cedar City in a home for about a year prior to his death.
