Virginia Collins Bryan, a volunteer for numerous civic and church organizations, died Monday at Orlando Regional Medical Center from complications of Parkinson's disease. Virginia was a fifth-generation Floridian from a pioneer Umatilla citrus family in Lake County. She was an active member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church and numerous charitable groups.

Betsy graduated in 1946 from Florida State College for Women and was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority and the Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi scholastic honor societies. Later, she served as president of Delta Delta Delta's alumni association. She was married to Grover C. Bryan for 46 years. He is former president of the Orlando Utilities Commission, Orlando Area Chamber of Commerce, and Greater Orlando Association of Realtors. The Bryans were avid travelers.

In 1978, Ginny was named interim director of the Christian Service Center and Meals on Wheels. She served as president of the center's executive board, as well as serving as a senior warden and member of the governing board at her church. Ginny was active at St. Michael's and was one of its first members. Although she was active in the community, Ginny found time to lovingly raise four children and spend time with 13 grandchildren. The most important things in her life were her church and her family.

In addition to her duties with the church and Christian Service Center, Mrs. Bryan was on the Central Florida Council for Florida House in Washington, D.C.; past chairwoman of the Episcopal Church Women; past chairwoman of St. Mary's Guild; board member on the local and state chapters of the League of Women Voters and the Central Florida YMCA; a founding trustee of Valencia Community College; and past president of the Junior League.

Survivors include her husband; two brothers, Dr. Harry Lee Collins Jr., of Jacksonville, and Robert L. Collins, of Umatilla; a sister, Mary Collins Marshall, of Umatilla; three sons, Paul Franklin Bryan , Robert Lee Bryan both of Orlando, David Collins Bryan of St. Cloud; and a daughter, Rebecca Bryan Driesbach of Orlando.

Ginny was also a member of the Third Friday Book Club - the longest running book club in the Central Florida area. She was a member from January 1977 to June 1994. The club minutes include this note: "During this year we lost two of our members - Ginny Bryan and Sis Eidson. Money was sent for book memorials to the Orange County Library System."
