Florence "Flo" Neidig passed away Sunday, October 3 at the age of 96. She was born July 6, 1914 in Detroit, MI to David and Lula Southmayd Harper. She attended the University of Michigan and the Pennsylvania School of Social Work. She married Egbert W. "Bert" Neidig and lived in Detroit, Cincinnati, and Kansas City before moving to Orlando in 1958. Flo was active in the League of Women Voters, serving as President of the Orange County League and as a member of the State Board of the League of Women Voters. She was a member of the original Orange County Charter Commission. Flo was appointed by Governor Graham to the Florida Elections Commission and served on several local boards, including Community Coordinated Child Care, the Young Women's Community Club [now the Women's Residential and Counseling Center] and the Community Service Center of South Orlando and was a member and former President of the Orlando Opera Guild. She was also a member of the Rosalind Club and the Rotary Ann Club.

Mrs. Neidig was also a member of the Third Friday Book Club - the longest running book club in the history of Central Florida. She was a member for 23 years from 1987 to 2010 and served as Secretary from 1999-2000. A notation in the 2010 secretary's notes references her passing: "Deceased - Flo Neidig 10/3/10. She was predeceased by her husband and by her oldest son, Peter. She is survived by her sons, Michael and his wife, Nancy, of Highlands, NC, and John and his wife, Barbara of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Harper and Cecile, Adam Neidig , Mary Silver and Laetitia Odermen; great- grandchildren, Miles Harper Silver and Charlotte Grace Silver.
