Lucia Marie Cortez Rodrigue passed away on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016, at the age of 94 years. She was a native of Vacherie, Louisiana, and a resident of Marrero, Louisiana for the past 71 years.

Lucia or "Maw" as she had friends call her, was the beloved wife of the late Edmond Jean Rodrigue, Sr. She is the mother of Florence Aline Stephens (Jackie McGarity) and the late Edmond Jean Rodrigue, Jr. and the daughter of the late Florence and Marcilien Cortez. She is the sister of Louisiana Scioneaux, Lisa Boudreaux, Louis and Pete Cortez and the late Lucille Allemand, Lucrece Page, Lucien Cortez, Lucette Madere, and Felicien Cortez. Maw is the beloved Grandmother of Clark Joseph Barrios, Jr. (Lori), and Troy Joseph Barrios (Alison), and the Great Grandmother of Emily Chandler.

The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Marrero, Louisiana, on Thursday, March 31, 2016 and interment was at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
