Wilbert M. "Bill" Epoch, 86, died Saturday, January 10, 2004 at Highline Care Center.
Bill was born in Everett to Wilbert and Ida Mae (Murphy) Epoch. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1935. During his 31 year career, he served on a total of 17 ships including the USS Indianapolis. He fought in the Pacific during WWII and in the Korean Conflict rising to rank of Chief Warrant Officer (W-4). Bill sailed around the world seven times including the north and south poles.
He met Wilma Steffens in Bremerhaven, Germany where they were married on March 11, 1950. He retired in 1966 at Bremerton and lived in Poulsbo until 1996 when they moved to East Wenatchee. He was a member of Everett Masonic Lodge #317, Free and Accepted Masons and of the Nile Temple of Seattle.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Epoch and his wife Lori, and Bill Epoch and his wife Sue of East Wenatchee; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Wilma; and a daughter, Stephanie.
The family would like to thank the many kind people for the loving care Bill received at Highgate and Highline.
Private Inurnment Services will be held in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Arrangements are by the Jones and Jones Funeral Home.
