LAKE WALES - Booker Thomas Young, Jr., 84, of Lake Wales, FL, passed away on December 11, 2013, from cancer at the home of his daughter Brenda and Walter son-in-law of Lakeland, FL.
He was born December 4, 1929, in Lake Wales, FL, the son of Booker Thomas Young, Sr., and Marion Roberts Young, and was a WWII veteran, proudly serving in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his companion, Freddie Robinson, of Lake Wales, FL; his sons: Akil (Bunny) (and wife, Geneva) Eberechuka and Dennis Young of Flint, MI, Brian (and wife, Gale) Robinson, of Georgetown, TX; and daughters: Brenda (and husband, Walter) Gaskin, of Lakeland, FL, and Linda Young, of Lake Wales, FL. He is also survived by three sisters, one brother, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
His community service to Lake Wales will never be forgotten, and he will truly be missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 20, at 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 21, at 10 a.m. both at Mt. Zion Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 12 "B" Street, Lake Wales, FL 33853.
