Lea Jean George Collins was born in February of 1949 in Memphis, TN.

She married George L Collins right out of high school when she turned 18. He joined the US Air Force and they lived in England during their first few years of marriage where they gave birth to their daughter Laura Christine Collins.

After returning to the north Mississippi area they then gave birth to their son, Matthew Collins in 1982. In 1987 they moved to Florida where they were married for 45 years until George passed away in 2013.

Lea leaves behind her son and daughter, and her daughter's 3 children, Victoria, Lane, and Carly. As well as great-grandson Wade.

Lea was an ardent arts and crafter having many hobbies from sewing to painting to embossing, wreath making, pottery, embroidering, air brushing, botany, and many others. She also served as an officer in the Central Florida Genealogical Society and worked as a high level sales dealer for Amsoil Synthetic Motor Oils.

Lea joined the Central Florida Genealogical Society (CFGS) in February, 2014 and was on the Board of Directors from 2015 until 2021. If not for Lea's help with the very first Genealogy 101 class at the Central Branch Library in Seminole County in 2015, and the encouragement she gave to numerous class attendees over the years since, they would not have had such a successful genealogy program, and they might never have had the collaboration with CFGS in the library's Genealogy Club program. Lea was a fixture at the CFGS booth at the annual Central Library Genealogy Fairs, and was one of the first in, and last out at the meetings. She will be missed by her many genealogy friends at CFGS.
She will be missed.
