Anthony Iacovitti and Family

On November 28, 1952, Anthony Iacovitti, his wife Dorothy Barber and three of their children: Anthony Jr, age six, Barbara Marie age three, and John Allen age three months died in a plane crash of an air froces Globemaster transport near Tocoma, Washington with 32 other servicemen and their families. The plane was enroute to a base in Massachusetts, following two years active duty in Alaska. Their eight year old son Joseph survived but was in fair condition after the crash, being treated in a hospital near the scene of the crash.

Mary Hamamie Gannam Saraf Beecher

My grandmother, Mary Gannam Saraf Beecher died Sept. 28 at Hospice Savannah. She was 90 years old. Grandma was born in Manchester, New Hampshire to Annie Abraham and Karem George Gannam. She had been a resident of Savannah for 81 years. Grandma was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church, a homemaker, and ran her own grocery store in her younger years. She was the widow of George Abdulkerim Saraf and Harold Pason Beecher.

U.S. Diplomat. Founder of Sanford, Florida. Founder of Central Florida citrus industry. Henry Shelton Sanford was born in Woodbury, Connecticut. His parents were Nancy Bateman Shelton and Nehemiah Curtis Sanford. His childhood years were spent in Birmingham, Connecticut where his father and uncle owned the Shelton Tack Company. After traveling extensively for his health, Sanford pursued a career in the diplomatic service. In 1847, he served as Secretary of the American Legation in St. Petersburg. In 1848, he was Acting Secretary of the American Legation in Frankfort.

Retired U.S. Navy Commander, Henry R. McShane, died June 3, 2014 at Veterans Victory Home in Walterboro, SC after a long illness. Hank was a former Navy Pilot, serving the reserves for 22 years and in the Korean Conflict. He is the son of William H. McShane and Frances Rayeur McShane, born in Hamburg, NY on October 15, 1928.
